8 great dress watches to wear to a wedding

Who doesn’t love a good wedding? It’s the chance to celebrate the happiness of our nearest and dearest, and dress up to the nines in a gorgeous outfit! Being part of the Extropian gang, we know you’re going to want a great watch to be a part of that outfit so we’ve put together a list of suggestions that’ll help you make your mark. Without, of course, upstaging the bride!

Galvin Watch Company – Loimu ($459)

This Loimu is a refined combination of modern simplicity and classic elegance. It features a gorgeous Guilloché dial designed to evoke the blazing aurora borealis, elegant Alpha hands, simple markers at 12, 6, and 9 o’clock, and a date window at 3 o’clock. It's available in several different dial colors (we love the bold purple tones of the Tundra!) and comes with either a metal bracelet or leather strap if you prefer a more classic dress look.

Visitor – Linden ($580) USA

The Linden is a great example of Visitor’s offbeat timepieces that focus on truly original design ! It comes in several different variants, but if you want a classic dress option, we’d recommend the Midnight with a “Tuxedo Black” leather strap. It boasts a stunning deep black “Wet-Ink” Crosshair dial, hands inspired by fountain pen nibs, teardrop-shaped indices, recessed minute markers around the edge, and a simple date window at 3 o’clock. The stainless-steel case uses multiple brushed and polished finishes and is beautifully slim at just 10.5mm.

Hesili – Original Series One ($595)

With the Original Series One, New York based Hesili have produced a quintessential neo-vintage Dress watch: versatile, elegant, and guaranteed to bring a flash of retro style to any wrist. It boasts a slim case (just 10.5mm) with a simple onion crown, and a plain lacquered dial with vintage arabic numerals and a discreet date window at 6 o’clock. If you want a really classic dress look, go for a black dial and matching leather strap, but if you prefer to add a flash of color there are other options too!

Astor + Banks – Fortitude ($650)

If you’re after something a little less classically formal, Chicago-based Astor + Banks may have the perfect choice. Inspired by traditional Officers watches, the Fortitude is a great everyday watch with the versatility to switch from casual to formal depending on the occasion. It features a stainless-steel case, matching flat-link micro-adjust bracelet, and a delightfully minimalist dial with applied, wedge-shaped indices, elegant Sword hands, a date window at 6 o’clock, and little else. Other handy features include anti-magnetic shielding, a sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating, and 200m of water resistance (just in case things get out of hand and everyone ends up in the swimming pool!).

Selten – Series 00 ($699)

Another option which can move effortlessly from sporty to dressy is the Series 00.00 from Hong kong-based Selten. The eye-catching dial is made from a piece of the Muonionalusta Meteorite which landed in northern Scandinavia and, combined with the elegant heated blue steel hands, provides a beautiful contrast of color and texture when hit by the light. There’s also a revolving day/night indicator featuring a sun and moon made of two slices of meteorite (one light, one dark) - perfect if the party goes on into the early hours!
